Explore the programs below to discover the pathway that’s right for you.
St. Elizabeth College of Nursing
St. Elizabeth College of Nursing (SECON) has been educating nurses for more than a century in Utica, NY. Students benefit from small class sizes, experienced faculty and extensive clinical experiences at the Wynn Hospital and other regional healthcare settings. Flexible program options, including traditional weekday and evening and weekend pathways, help students balance their education with work and family commitments.
SECON also offers opportunities for continued academic advancement through partnerships with four year institutions, including an innovative pathway with SUNY Polytechnic Institute that allows students to earn both an associate degree and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Graduates leave prepared to begin rewarding nursing careers while building a strong foundation for future professional growth.
Family Nurse Practitioner Residency Program
MVHS’s Family Nurse Practitioner Residency Program helps newly graduated family nurse practitioners successfully transition into independent clinical practice. Through a structured residency experience, participants receive individualized mentorship, supervised clinical rotations and ongoing educational experiences that strengthen their diagnostic, clinical and leadership skills across a variety of patient care settings.
Designed to build confidence while promoting evidence based practice, the program provides residents with the support needed to become highly skilled primary care providers. By combining hands on learning with guidance from experienced clinicians, the residency prepares graduates to deliver high quality, patient centered care throughout the communities we serve.
Nurse Residency Program
The MVHS Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive, year long transition to practice program designed to support newly licensed registered nurses as they move from the classroom into professional nursing practice. Through monthly educational seminars, clinical learning experiences, mentorship, peer support and leadership development, nurse residents build the knowledge, confidence and clinical judgment needed to thrive in today’s complex healthcare environment.
The program emphasizes evidence based practice, critical thinking, communication, teamwork and professional resilience while fostering a supportive environment where new nurses can safely develop their skills. MVHS is also pursuing accreditation through the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Practice Transition Accreditation Program, demonstrating our commitment to nationally recognized standards for nurse residency education and long term professional success.
MVCC Certified Nursing Assistant Program
The MVHS and Mohawk Valley Community College Certified Nursing Assistant Program provides an excellent starting point for individuals interested in entering the healthcare field. Students receive classroom instruction and supervised clinical training that prepares them to meet New York State certification requirements while developing the essential skills needed to deliver compassionate, high quality patient care.
For many students, the CNA program serves as the first step in a lifelong nursing career. Graduates are well prepared to begin working in healthcare while gaining valuable experience that can lead to future educational opportunities as licensed practical nurses, registered nurses and other healthcare professionals.
