Program Highlights
Board Pass Rate
Our program takes pride in our education and resources available to help our residents achieve board certification. Our program pass rate for the American Board of Osteopathic Family Practice Board for the previous five years is 100% and the American Board of Family Medicine pass rate is 100%.
Diverse Patient Population
The Sister Rose Vincent Family Medicine Center (SRVFMC) is located within blocks of the Utica Refugee Resettlement Center. Residents will care for patients from all over the world with a wide array of ethnic and cultural backgrounds and medical conditions. In person translation services are a priority with an in-house Language Assistance Department which assisted with twenty nine different languages by our most recent data.
Work Hour Regulations Compliance
On average, residents in the program work 57 hours a week, well within the New York State 405 Work Hour Regulation maximum of 80 hours per week. Residents always have at least 1 day off in seven totally free of responsibility. The majority of weeks you will have 2 days totally free.
High Fidelity Simulation Lab
The program provides state-of-the-art interdisciplinary education in part through our Simulation Center to promote hands on experiential learning. Residents have the opportunity to develop their procedure, obstetric and inpatient skills monthly during a Morning Report skills session. Annually, residents will collaborate with the College of Nursing, Pharmacy, Respiratory Therapy, Medical and other students to run a Multi-casualty Drill. During the drill, live actors, Sim Man 3G and Victoria (obstetrics manikin) will be used.
Away Electives in PGY 3
Residents are permitted to take an away elective rotation in their third year of training. Many residents use this as an opportunity to audition for a fellowship, check out a job opportunity or to achieve more in-depth training in an area of interest.
Resident Wellness
