Center of Excellence in Orthopedic Surgery Accreditation
The St. Elizabeth Campus of Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS), has achieved accreditation as a Center of Excellence in Orthopedic Surgery by Surgical Review Corporation (SRC). A Center of Excellence in Orthopedic Surgery accreditation distinguishes the St. Elizabeth Campus from many other hospitals by providing the highest quality of care to its patients.
National Committee for Quality Assurance Patient-Centered Medical Home Recognition
The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) recognizes the Adirondack Community Physicians medical offices for their Physician Practice Connections – Patient-Centered Medical Home (PPC-PCMH) program. The recognition notes their use of evidence-based, patient-centered processes that focus on highly coordinated care and long-term provider/patient relationships.

Mohawk Valley Health System affiliates Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare (FSLH) and St. Elizabeth Medical Center are accredited by Det Norske Veritas’s (DNV) National Integrated Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations (NIAHO℠) and are certified to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Standard.Becoming ISO certified is an additional component of the DNV accreditation.

The American College of Cardiology established the HeartCARE Center: National Distinction of Excellence award in 2018 to recognize hospitals that demonstrate a commitment to comprehensive high-quality culture. Accreditation is based on rigorous on-site evaluation of the staff’s ability to safely and effectively evaluate, diagnose and treat patients. 
Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus with Honor Roll
The Stroke Center at the St. Luke’s Campus of MVHS is the area’s only designated Primary Stroke Center, received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Plus with Honor Roll quality achievement award for the 10th consecutive year. 
Excellus Blue Distinction Center+ for Knee and Hip Surgery
The St. Elizabeth Campus and St. Luke’s Campus have been selected by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield as a Blue Distinction Center+ for Knee and Hip Replacement, part of the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program. Blue Distinction Centers are nationally designated healthcare facilities shown to deliver improved patient safety and better health outcomes.
Excellus Blue Distinction Center+ for Cardiac Care
Blue Distinction Centers and Blue Distinction Centers+ for Cardiac Care provide a full range of inpatient cardiac care services, including coronary artery bypass graft surgery, heart valve surgery, and angioplasty (percutaneous coronary intervention). These facilities demonstrate better quality and improved outcomes for patients.
Excellus Blue Distinction Center+ for Bariatric Surgery
Blue Distinction Centers and Blue Distinction Centers+ for Bariatric Surgery provide a full range of bariatric surgery care; including surgical care, post-operative care, outpatient follow-up care and patient education. These Centers have lower complication rates and fewer readmissions. 
DNV Certification – Comprehensive Stroke Center
MVHS has the highest level of treatment for serious stroke events and the St. Luke’s Campus is the best-equipped hospital in the area to diagnose and treat any kind of stroke or stroke complication. We’re one of only several Comprehensive Stroke Centers in Upstate New York and the only one between Syracuse and Albany.
Community Health Accreditation Program
Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of Utica and Oneida County is a Certified Home Health Agency by the Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP).CHAP is an independent, nonprofit, accrediting body for community-based health care organizations, which accredits more than 8,300 sites with a purpose to define and advance the highest quality of community-based care.
Commission on Cancer
The Cancer Center is nationally accredited by the Commission on Cancer. The Commission on Cancer (CoC) is a consortium of professional organizations dedicated to improving survival and quality of life for cancer patients through standard-setting, prevention, research, education, and the monitoring of comprehensive quality care.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program (DPRP) Full Recognition
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) established the CDC Diabetes Prevention Recognition Program (DPRP) as part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program. The DPRP provides information to people at high risk of type 2 diabetes, their health care providers, and health payers on the location and performance of local type 2 diabetes prevention programs.

Our Bariatric Surgery Program at our St. Luke’s campus is an Accredited Center by the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP).
American College of Radiology (ACR) – Accredited Facility in Ultrasound
The Ultrasound Accreditation Program involves the acquisition of clinical images, submission of relevant physician reports corresponding to clinical images submitted, and quality control documentation.
American College of Radiology (ACR) – Accredited Facility in Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
The Stereotactic Breast Biopsy Accreditation Program provides facilities performing stereotactic breast biopsy procedures with peer review and constructive feedback on their staff’s qualifications, equipment, quality control, quality assurance, accuracy of needle placement, image quality and dose.
American College of Radiology (ACR) – Accredited Facility in Radiation Oncology
MVHS Cancer Services operates in partnership with Upstate Cancer Center, a global leader in the field of radiation therapy and is accredited in radiation oncology by the American College of Radiology. 
American College of Radiology (ACR) – Accredited Facility in Positron Emission Tomography
The ACR Positron Emission Tomography (PET) Accreditation program was developed and is directed by the Committee on Nuclear Medicine Accreditation of the Commission on Quality and Safety. The PET Accreditation Program involves the acquisition of clinical and phantom images and corresponding data for each unit. 
American College of Radiology (ACR) – Accredited Facility in Nuclear Medicine
The Nuclear Medicine Accreditation Program involves the acquisition of clinical and phantom images and corresponding data for each unit. All providers that bill for nuclear medicine and PET under part B of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule must be accredited in order to receive technical component reimbursement from Medicare.
American College of Radiology (ACR) – Accredited Facility in Mammography
The Mammography Accreditation Program provides facilities with peer review and constructive feedback on staff qualifications, equipment, quality control, quality assurance, image quality and radiation dose. The 1992 Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requires that all mammography facilities in the United States be accredited.
American College of Radiology (ACR) – Accredited Facility in Computed Tomography
The CT Accreditation Program involves the acquisition of clinical and phantom images, dose measurements and the submission of scanning protocols. Providers that bill under part B of the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule must be accredited in order to receive technical component reimbursement from Medicare.
American College of Radiology (ACR) – Accredited Facility in Breast Ultrasound
The Breast Ultrasound Accreditation Program provides facilities performing breast ultrasound and ultrasound-guided breast biopsies peer review and constructive feedback on their staff’s qualifications, equipment, quality control, quality assurance, accuracy of needle placement and image quality.
American College of Radiology (ACR) – Accredited Breast Imaging Center of Excellence
Designated by the American College of Radiology (ACR), our Imaging Center is the only Breast Imaging Center of Excellence in the Mohawk Valley.
American Academy of Sleep Medicine Accredited Member Center
Each of these sleep centers has demonstrated a commitment to the highest quality of care in the treatment and diagnosis of sleep disorders. In order to become accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, sleep centers must comply with the AASM Standards for Accreditation, the gold standard for patient care in the sleep medicine field.
