The Thoracic Surgery Program at MVHS now offers advanced robotic-assisted lung biopsy technology to help detect and diagnose lung nodules earlier and more accurately.
Using the Ion robotic-assisted bronchoscopy system, physicians can navigate deep into the lungs through the natural airways with exceptional precision. The system uses CT imaging to create a detailed, 3D map of the lungs, providing real-time guidance to reach small or difficult-to-access lung nodules that may not be accessible with traditional biopsy methods.
This minimally invasive procedure requires no incisions and allows physicians to obtain tissue samples from one or multiple lung nodules during a single procedure. The samples are then analyzed to determine whether cancer cells are present. If cancer is detected, additional staging can often be performed during the same procedure to help determine whether the disease has spread.
Early detection is one of the most important factors in successfully treating lung cancer. If you are at risk for lung cancer or think you may be a candidate for lung cancer screening, don’t wait. Call 315-624-4099 to schedule an appointment and learn whether robotic-assisted lung biopsy or lung cancer screening is right for you.
