Orthopedic surgeons at MVHS use the Mako SmartRobotics™ system for:

  • Total knee replacement
  • Partial knee replacement
  • Total hip replacement.

Robotic surgery means smaller incisions when it comes time for your surgery. That also means shorter hospitalization, faster recovery times and less scarring.

MVHS is a leader in robotic surgery. We are proud to offer two innovative robotic systems utilized by our surgeons at Wynn Hospital – the da Vinci® robot and the Mako SmartRobotics™ System.

Features of the da Vinci Robot

  • A new overhead instrument arm architecture designed to facilitate anatomical access from virtually any position.
  • A new endoscope digital architecture that creates a simpler, more compact design with improved vision definition and clarity.
  • An ability to attach the endoscope to any arm, providing flexibility for visualizing the surgical site.
  • Smaller, thinner arms with newly designed joints that offer a greater range of motion than ever before.
  • Longer instrument shafts designed to give surgeons greater operative reach.

Surgeons at MVHS have been using the da Vinci® Si™ and the da Vinci® Xi™ Systems for a variety of procedures. Both of the da Vinci® Systems are an expandable technology platform that are designed to accommodate and seamlessly integrate a range of current technologies, as well as future innovations, in areas such as imaging, advanced instruments and anatomical access.

Features of Mako SmartRobotics

  • The SmartRobotics™ System can be used across the orthopedic service line and is the only robotic technology equipped with AccuStop™ haptic technology.
  • Mako was the first robotic technology that could be used across the joint replacement service line to perform total knee, total hip and partial knee replacements.
  • Surgeons can use the Mako System to create a personalized surgical plan and identify the desired implant size, orientation and alignment.

The Mako System also enables surgeons to virtually modify the surgical plan intraoperatively and assists them in executing bone resections.
