Shyla Edwards, RN, is the nurse navigator for MVHS Thoracic Surgery Group. As nurse navigator, Edwards is the primary point of contact for patients and families if a cancer diagnosis is made, and will provide individualized assistance to help overcome healthcare system barriers and facilitate timely access to quality health from pre-diagnosis through all phases of the cancer experience.
Prior to this role, Edwards served as a case manager for Senior Network Health in Utica, as a registered nurse in the PACU at Rome Health in Rome, New York, as a registered nurse with Mohawk Valley Endoscopy Center in Utica and as a surgery scheduler with Surgical Associates of Utica.
Edwards earned her Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica.
