Abhinav Sharma, MD, DABPN, FRCPC, DAAAP, is a psychiatrist with the Behavioral Health Services office at the Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS).

Prior to joining MVHS, Dr. Sharma was practicing as both a private and academic psychiatrist in Ontario, Canada. He has specific interests in resident education and managing substance use disorders with implementing various types of addiction treatments. He also enjoys providing outreach psychiatric support in rural communities that are struggling with comorbid mental health disorders.

Dr. Sharma earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. He completed his residency in Psychiatry at the East Carolina University School of Medicine in Greenville, North Carolina. He completed a fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida.

Dr. Sharma is board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology, Addiction Psychiatry and is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
