The Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS), The Carol L. Coombs Business Education, Cultural Activities Center, the Mohawk Valley Latino Association and the NAACP Oneida County chapter, are partnering to host the Circle of Strength: A Night of Brotherhood and Wellness, an empowering and important health event for Black and Latino men.
Who: Black and Latino men.
What: Free health awareness event with guest speaker Terrance Afer-Anderson who will show his film, “The Black Walnut.” A panel of physicians will engage with the audience to answer questions and provide information on the importance of regular prostate screenings. Dinner will be provided.
Where: The Carol L. Crooms Business, Education, Cultural Activities Center, 1105 Park Avenue, Utica.
When: Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Why: Prostate cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death in American men and is a significant health concern for Black and Latino men. Early diagnosis of prostate cancer significantly increases the likelihood of survival.
