Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is expanding access to women’s health services with the addition of Lora Papandrea, MD, and Barbara Baltzer, MS, ANP-BC, to MVHS Women’s Health Services at Medical Arts Campus.

The expansion strengthens the practice’s ability to provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care to women throughout every stage of life, while increasing access to appointments for patients across the Mohawk Valley.

Lora Papandrea, MD
Dr. Papandrea brings more than 20 years of experience in obstetrics and gynecology and returns to MVHS in this new role with a longstanding history of leadership within the organization. She has served as medical director of Robotic Surgery since 2021 and previously served as chair of the OB/GYN Department from 2008 to 2010. Most recently, she practiced with OB/GYN Associates of Central New York in Utica, where she served as managing partner.

Dr. Papandrea earned her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at West Virginia University/Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston, West Virginia, where she served as administrative chief resident. She also earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Amherst, Massachusetts. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

 

Barbara Baltzer, MS, ANP-BC
Baltzer, Barbara, MS, ANPBarbara Baltzer brings more than 35 years of experience caring for women in the Mohawk Valley. A board-certified adult nurse practitioner, Baltzer most recently practiced with OB/GYN Associates of Central New York in Utica, where she provided women’s healthcare for more than 25 years. She previously practiced with Dr. Vali in Utica and began her career as a registered nurse in Labor and Delivery at Oneida Healthcare in Oneida, New York.

Baltzer earned her Nursing degree from St. Elizabeth College of Nursing in Utica. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica, and completed her Nurse Practitioner certification at Community General Hospital in Syracuse, New York.
