Anu Banerjee, PhD, MS, MHA, FACHE, has joined MVHS as chief operating officer (COO). As COO, Dr. Banerjee will be responsible for Clinical Support Services, Operational Support Services, supervising MVHS product lines and working closely with quality and medical education. He will partner with leaders across the organization to advance operational excellence, enhance the patient experience and support the continued growth of MVHS.
Dr. Banerjee is an accomplished healthcare executive with extensive experience leading operational transformation, strategic growth and service integration across complex healthcare organizations. Throughout his career, he has focused on improving quality, enhancing patient outcomes and strengthening organizational performance through collaboration with physicians, employees and community stakeholders.
Most recently, Dr. Banerjee served as chief executive officer of California Health Care Facility in Stockton, California, where he led one of the state’s most complex healthcare delivery systems. In that role, he oversaw more than 2,100 registered nurses, 3,600 employees and approximately 250 primary and specialty care providers, while managing an annual budget exceeding $760 million.
During his tenure, Dr. Banerjee successfully expanded access to care by adding new service lines, improving patient satisfaction and employee engagement, reducing infection rates and implementing hundreds of Lean and Six Sigma projects to improve efficiency and quality. He also led efforts that resulted in exceptional performance during Joint Commission and Department of Health surveys.
Prior to serving as CEO, Dr. Banerjee served as system director, Quality Management/Performance Improvement/Patient Experience for Southwest Healthcare System in Murietta California; chief quality officer for Kaweah Delta Healthcare District in Visalia, California; system chief quality and innovation officer for Arnot Health in Elmira, New York; senior director, Workflow Center of Excellence and Analytics for Siemens Medical Solutions in Malvern, Pennsylvania; and senior leader, Business Intelligence and Analytics for United Health Services in Johnson City, New York.
Dr. Banerjee earned his Doctor of Healthcare Management and Operations from Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York; his Master of Business in Healthcare Management from the University of Scranton in Scranton, Pennsylvania; and his Master of Science in Systems Science and Industrial Engineering from Binghamton University in Binghamton, New York. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
