Danielle Smith, MD, has joined Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) as a Cardiac surgeon.
Prior to joining MVHS, Dr. Smith served as a Cardiothoracic surgeon at The Iowa Clinic UnityPoint Health – Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa, and at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. She also served as the chief of Cardiac Surgery at the Portland Veterans Affairs Health Care System in Portland, Oregon, and was an assistant professor in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon.
Dr. Smith earned her medical degree at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, and completed her residency in Thoracic Surgery at Northwestern University. Dr. Smith also completed a fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco.
Dr. Smith is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and the American Board of Internal Medicine in Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
