The Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) is hosting a blood drive on St. Patrick’s Day, Thursday, March 17, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The blood drive will be held at the St. Elizabeth College of Nursing in the Multipurpose Room at 2215 Genesee Street, Utica, New York.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a drastic decline in blood donations. Due to critically low blood supply, product distribution to hospitals is being limited across the country. Thirty-eight percent of our population has type O positive blood, making it the most common and sought after blood type. Any donation will help combat the national blood shortage.

Please consider making a Power Red Cell donation if you have one of the following blood types: O Negative, O Positive, A Negative or B Negative. Power Red donations allow the donor to give more red cells in one sitting.

Appointments are encouraged and appreciated. Walk-ins are welcome but appointment times are limited. Please follow COVID-19 precautions and be sure to wear a mask.

Please call 1-800-RED-CROSS or go online to https://redcrossblood.org to schedule your appointment. Download the Blood Donor App and use Rapid Pass to save time on the day of the drive.
