New center replaces Bariatric Surgery program and offers surgical, medical and nutrition-based weight management

UTICA, N.Y. – Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) announced today the launch of the MVHS Weight Loss Center, designed to support patients with obesity through personalized, medically guided care. The new center replaces the MVHS Bariatric Surgery program and expands services to include surgical and non-surgical weight loss options, as well as specialized nutrition counseling.

“Obesity is a complex, chronic disease that requires individualized care,” said William A. Graber, MD, FACS, MVHS Bariatric surgeon. “The MVHS Weight Loss Center allows us to meet patients where they are and guide them toward the treatment approach that is most appropriate for their health needs and goals.”

The MVHS Weight Loss Center offers bariatric surgery, including Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and vertical sleeve gastrectomy, as well as medical weight loss medications for eligible patients. Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team that includes bariatric surgeons, clinicians and a bariatric-trained registered dietitian.

In addition, the Center offers nutrition counseling to improve access to dietary support. Self-pay options are available; contact the office for details.

Patients interested in weight loss care receive a comprehensive evaluation to determine the most appropriate treatment pathway. Individual results vary, and all services are guided by medical evaluation and evidence-based standards.
