Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) Cardiac Services hosted a Heart Health Forum at Wynn Hospital on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. The annual forum displays the newest and best technology in cardiovascular medicine and surgery.

Vendors included Abiomed, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, Abbott, Philips, Edwards Lifesciences, Penumbra and Biosense, who provided education to attendees on the latest technology in minimally invasive cardiovascular procedures, including TAVR, Impella heart pumps, heart imaging, implantable cardiac monitors and more.

Medtronic offers an implantable cardiac monitoring device called Reveal LINQ, which monitors your cardiac data, including arrhythmia, to keep an eye on your heart health. The device is implanted in an outpatient procedure that only takes 10 minutes, and then your doctor will be able to monitor your heart activity over time to ensure better care.

“MVHS is continually enhancing its cardiac service line with the latest technology,” said Jessica Fister, BSN, RN, assistant vice president of Cardiac Services. “There are so many options for minimally-invasive procedures that improve quality of life for those with cardiovascular disease and prevent it in others. It’s wonderful to be able to offer these life-saving options to people throughout the Central New York region.”

MVHS offers comprehensive Cardiac Services – including preventative and interventional services, surgery and rehabilitation. MVHS is a designated HeartCARE Center – a National Distinction of Excellence from the American College of Cardiology (ACC). For more information, visit mvhealthsystem.org/cardiac/.
