The Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) Medical Group recently opened its new Diabetes and Endocrinology Clinic. Community providers Domenic Aiello, MD, and Alexandra Pellecchia, MD, joined MVHS provider Nay Linn Aung, MD, to form the new office. The new office will provide diabetes and endocrinology care at the Faxton Campus located at 1675 Bennett Street in Utica.
The merger with Dr. Aiello’s practice allows MVHS to offer comprehensive diabetes and endocrinology care to the patients of MVHS and the surrounding communities, and is a wonderful way to grow the offering of diabetes education and care to the region.

About Dr. Aiello
Prior to joining MVHS, Dr. Aiello was in private practice in New Hartford, New York, and has been part of the MVHS medical staff since 1989. Dr. Aiello has extensive experience as an emergency department and urgent care physician, and has operated an endocrinology clinic in Utica for more than 30 years.
Dr. Aiello earned his medical degree at the Universidad Autonaoma de Guadalajarain Mexico. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Highland Hospital in Rochester, New York, and a fellowship in Endocrinology at M.S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
About Dr. Aung
Dr. Aung is a board certified diabetologist working at the MVHS Diabetes and Endocrinology Clinic. He is also director of the diabetes sub-track in the MVHS Family Medicine Residency Program and program director of the MVHS Diabetes Fellowship Program. He is a frequent lecturer on diabetes for local and national organizations such as the American Diabetes Association (ADA), American College of Diabetology (ACD), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) and New York State Academy of Family Physicians (NYSAFP).
Dr. Aung received his medical degree from the Institution of Medicine-1 in Yangon, Burma. He completed his residency at St. Elizabeth Family Medicine Program in Utica. Dr. Aung also completed the Diabetes Fellowship at East Carolina University in North Carolina.
About Dr. Pellecchia
Prior to joining MVHS, Dr. Pellecchia was with Dr. Aiello’s medical practice in New Hartford, New York. She also served as a clinical endocrinologist with New Century Medical Associates in Poughkeepsie, New York, and the University Physicians Group on Staten Island, New York. Dr. Pellecchia was the medical director at Saint Francis Hospital and Health Centers in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Dr. Pellecchia earned her Doctor of Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. She completed her Internal Medicine internship and residency both at Yale-New Haven Medical Center in New Haven, Connecticut, and an Endocrinology fellowship at Brown Medical School in Providence, Rhode Island.
