Ebere Azumah, MD, MPH, ACC, FACOG, a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN), has joined the MVHS Women’s Health Center.
Prior to this position, Dr. Azumah was a Locum physician while a student of Public Health with a concentration of Health Management at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. During
her time as a traveling physician, she worked in various healthcare systems including rural, Indian reservation and the Virgin Islands. Prior to her matriculation into Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public health, she worked for years at Unity Health Care, a community health center in Washington, D.C. While in D.C. she was also an attending at Providence Hospital.
Dr. Azumah was a co-chair for the Managed Continuing Medical Education (CME) program at Providence Hospital where she developed curriculum and organized guest lectures to encourage more evidence based medical practice. She also supervised the in-house midwives team and learned a more holistic approach to providing obstetrical care. This motivated her to become a trained Doula. Dr. Azumah is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF). She also mentored and supervised Family Medicine and OB-GYN residents.
Dr. Azumah received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan with a double major in General Biology and African American History. She then received her Doctor of Medicine from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Long Island Jewish-Northwell School of Medicine in New Hyde, New York. Dr. Azumah recently received her Master of Public Health with a Health Management concentration from Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Azumah is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, a trained Doula and public health expert.
