The Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) Medical Group recently opened a new Foot and Ankle Surgery office. Kimberly Hurley, DPM; Bowen Yang, DPM; and Lara Belfiore, FNP-C, have all joined to form the new office. The Foot and Ankle Surgery office will provide comprehensive care for conditions affecting the foot and ankle, helping patients regain mobility, relieve pain and return to the activities they enjoy.
The MVHS Foot and Ankle Surgery team combines advanced surgical techniques with conservative treatment options to deliver high-quality care for patients of all ages. From routine foot care to minimally invasive procedures and complex reconstructive surgery, the team is committed to providing advanced foot and ankle care to the community.

About Dr. Hurley
Kimberly Hurley, DPM, brings extensive experience in Podiatric Surgery and currently serves as program director of the MVHS Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residency Program. Prior to joining MVHS, she practiced with Slocum-Dickson Medical Group in Utica; Cooper Bone and Joint Institute at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey; and Commonwealth Orthopaedic Associates in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Hurley earned her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She completed her podiatric residency at Aria-Jefferson Health in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she served as third-year chief resident and trained in reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle.
She is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in foot surgery and reconstructive rearfoot and ankle surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.
About Dr. Yang
Bowen Yang, DPM, is a board-qualified podiatric surgeon with advanced training in trauma, reconstructive and sports-related foot and ankle surgery. During his residency, he performed more than 900 primary surgical procedures, including forefoot and rearfoot reconstruction, arthroscopy and complex trauma procedures. He also has experience caring for patients with diabetic foot conditions and complex wounds.
Dr. Yang earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from New York College of Podiatric Medicine in New York, New York. He also earned a Master of Applied Science in Tissue Engineering and Bone Regeneration from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario in Canada and a Bachelor of Science in Life Science from Sichuan University/University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Canada. He completed his podiatric residency at Long Island Jewish/North Shore at Northwell Health in Manhasset, New York, which includes adult and pediatric Level I Trauma Centers.
Dr. Yang is qualified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rearfoot/Ankle Surgery.
About Lara Belfiore, FNP-C
Lara Belfiore, FNP-C, brings more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, including more than seven years as an advanced practice provider. Her clinical experience includes podiatry, family medicine, pediatrics, geriatrics and urgent care. Most recently, she provided podiatric care at Slocum-Dickson Medical Group, where she treated a variety of podiatric conditions, including wound care and diabetic foot management, and performed minor procedures and injections.
Belfiore earned her Post-Master’s Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner from SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica. She earned her master’s degree in Nursing Education from Excelsior College in Albany, New York, and her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica. She earned her associate degree in nursing from St. Elizabeth’s College of Nursing (SECON) in Utica.
