At MVHS, our DAISY Award honorees are those nurses who consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care. They are recognized as outstanding role models in our nursing community and take great pride in providing our patients with an extraordinary level of care. If you and your family have experienced the skill and care of a nurse who should be recognized, please nominate them for a DAISY Award using the form below.

What is The DAISY Award?
The DAISY Award rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day. MVHS is proud to be a DAISY Award Partner, recognizing our deserving nurses with this special honor. To find out more about the program, visit https://www.daisyfoundation.org/.

Each honoree will be recognized in her/his unit where they will be awarded with a certificate, a pin and a hand-carved sculpture. Everyone in the unit is invited to celebrate with cinnamon rolls – a favorite of Patrick’s during his illness. The Barnes Family asks that whenever and wherever nurses smell that wonderful cinnamon aroma, they stop for a moment and think about how special they are.

Who can I nominate for a DAISY Award?

You can nominate any nurse who has demonstrated extraordinary patient care and contributes to the MVHS Mission, Vision and Values. Please fill out the recognition form below to let them know how much their care and compassion meant to you or your loved one.

About The DAISY Foundation
The DAISY Foundation was established in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died of complications of the auto-immune disease Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP) at the age of 33. (DAISY is an acronym for diseases attacking the immune system.) During Pat’s eight-week hospitalization, his family was awestruck by the care and compassion his nurses provided not only to Pat but to everyone in his family. One of the goals they set in creating a foundation in Pat’s memory was to recognize extraordinary nurses everywhere who make an enormous difference in the lives of so many people by the superhuman work they do every day.
